I really appreciate it. I wish I'd been better at keeping up on my blog! I'm approaching the variations in a very loose fashion. I usually put down some kind of underpainting to respond to, but other than that, I don't have any notions about color,value or seasons. Some of them did turn out to take on the flavor of certain times of day or seasons but it wasn't really intentional on my part. I really just played! BTW, I'm done! I completed 103 last week. It's really hard to describe how this project has nourished me. I feel like it's changed my whole approach to my work and what I'm striving for in painting each day. It's taken me deeper and at the same time it was like having a best friend hold my hand every day as I approached my easel; something stable and reliable to depend on. So now that I'm finished, it's quite a challenge to figure out what is next to provide that same spark and stability. As you can tell, I'm not very good at keeping up on my blog. I'll get better!. I love having both the pastels and the oils to bounce between. I use the pastels as a starting point because I'm most comfortable with them, then I'll develop some that I think are particularly strong into larger oils. It's great to use paint and brushes and be able to go "big" with the oils.
